Story:
Tried it with the tank.. but it was an EPIC fail..
tried it with 6 AT mines + 6 C4s and it went up like 4ft in the air..

So...i tried something LIGHTER and that happend....

Dear oh dear, the way it works only in Vanilla is because of friendly fire. You need to dig a hole, plant mines, have a friendly in a tank get over it and then blow it up. The fact that they do not die from the explosion makes them fly so much higher than a regular explosion.
