So I've seen this come up a couple times with friends already, and then I encountered it.
If youre installing from a disk and getting errors , something along the lines of "failure to read install file" I found a fix that worked for me.

IF you encounter other errors and have a fix post em here and I will include on the sticky.

I noticed a few people posting this so here is a quick "How To" on resolving this problem.
Please Note:
If you have added your CD key and started downloading any of the files, Right click the game (Both MP&Sp) and click "Delete Local Content".
Also Please ensure that your steam is open and you are logged in.
1. Open Command Prompt (Start>Run>Type CMD)
2. Browse to your Steam Directory, By default this is C:/Program Files/Steam/. Do this by typing "CD C:/Program Files/Steam/"
3. Type "steam.exe -install E:". E Is my CD drive letter, Please change this according to your drive letter. The game should then install.
If the game simply validates you have not deleted your local content.
Tips:
If your steam install is on a separate Hard Drive/Partition simply type the letter to follow by ":" and press enter, then follow from step 2.
Eg:
Your CMD Says:
C:\Users\Master Of Puppets>
You then type your drive letter so it would look like:
C:\Users\Master Of Puppets>D:
It then changes to D:\>
Hope this helps.
