Dont know if anyone have seen this so I'll give the heads up. Its a 4 co-op player game but I'm all for a freebie game.

Jul 16, 2010Valve Unleashes An Alien Swarm On SteamKotaku The Alien Swarm Unreal Tournament 2004 mod becomes a full, Source-powered four-player co-op tactics game, available for free on Steam this Monday, courtesy of the nice folks at Valve.



Valve hired on the team responsible for Alien Swarm two years ago. Since then, they've been busy working on the Left 4 Dead series and now Portal 2, but they've managed to squeeze out a little extra time to update Alien Swarm as a full Source release.



Alien Swarm is a top=-down four-player shooter, similar to arcade games of old. Players one of eight unique characters with four different classes, and battle their way through hordes of aliens using more than 40 different types of weapons and equi9pment. Players will gain levels as they play, unlocking persistent items along the way.



Not only is Valve releasing the game for free on Monday, it's releasing the game's entire code base and modding tools as well. With a simple, tile-based map editor, modders should have a field day with Alien Swarm.

Actually I would. Except for

1. You don't play for more than 20 minutes at a time.
2. You goof off too much.

I'll download it if it's under 200MBs.

1. Cause my BFBC2 keeps crashing to desktop

2. Cause of me goofing off, remember the last game we played a 4 player co-op, I won.

I've played it a little bit and really enjoy it! Lots of fun, and a good change of pace compared to BFBC2.

Yeah I was hittin it up with Gimmie. Not a bad game. I would have bought the game if it was in FPS and had a couple ugly aliens.

there is a way to change it to over the shoulder but idk how, a little popup of that view shows up when the game decides it would be nice.

I also noticed the the Fallout 3 DLC ius on Steam. I think this means that i don't need to go through windows live to get it.

Actually Gimmie its a console command ill look it up now. The graphics look pretty decent too so its not that bad.

Ok here is the console command to make it first person.
Enter in order:

firstperson

asw_hide_marine 1

asw_controls 0

"First one enables firstperson mode, second one hides your marine so you can see, third one changes the camera controls to be more FPS like.

To enable the console, go to Options > Keyboard > Enable developer console. Then hit the “`” key on the keyboard (~ in the US) – the one to the left of the “1″ key in the top left. Then enter each of the above commands to set first-person mode on."

It does not show you the gun but it does show the red laser and the white circle for where the bullets are going.
