Trying to get back into gaming. Got married in August so not much time with the wifey. Skipped out on Battlefield 1 cause I didn't like the content. Got Battlefield 5 but still not happy with the lack of content from EA. Hopefully Dice gets more time to work on 2143.We work in the dark, to serve the light. We are Assassins.

Hey how is everyone! Still gaming here, have been playing Overwatch for the last two years with my daughter. Now it looks like I might be getting into Apex Legends. Miss all of you, cant thank Cain enough for making one of the most awesome and memorable places to play.Old school or the new, doesn't mean a thing if your heart's not true...

Cain, is this true?
Speaking of being an old timer, Cain would have to answer this regarding my memory.
I seem to recall, that I was actually one of the very first 5 or 6 people to sign up to the Cain's Lair Forums way back in time. Then, I remember that Cain had some kind of disaster/problem and lost all the peoples log in information. We all had to re-sign up hence, my date is listed as 2005. But I was sure I was originally on years earlier.
Cain does that sound familiar, did something like this actually happen? Or am I thinking of another Forum?
Thanks...[TT]

I got the e-mail but I somehow lost track of it but no matter. I'm so glad to see that so many of you are still around and coming back to where the best gaming and conversation on the interweb could be found, still can be obviously.
Good to read that we are still gaming, single player or otherwise it's still gaming. I have fully pulled the pin so I have dusted off quite a few old games and am looking to pick up a few new/latest titles. This just warms the heart to see the site still active.
I want to do the MP thing, going to have to research whats hot and not.

You're right on. I think there was an incident like If I recall right and another was Cain made the jump from the old website to one that was somewhat like this one but nowhere near the bells and whistles of this website.
I remember like it was yesterday. I was playing this game called "Unreal" at the time. I later made the discovery that the developers of the game, Epic, were releasing a MP Demo called "Unreal Tournament". When finally they released it I did the DL and was immediately blown away. I told a good friend/co-worker about it, he DLed it and later told me a site he played Quake on were now running the UT demo on their sever. The server was so much fun right off the bat, packed to the max all the time. I remember the first map on the demo was "Coret". Just the one map but man it was so addicting. That was the fall of 2000. I started reading posts on the website and really liked the vibe of the place. My buddy, Viking1, was already a member so of course I followed suit. That was just before X-Mas of 2000. At that time I was playing under the handle of "ChefboyRD" and later changed it to the one I used on the forums and the one I use now. The rest, as they say, is history.
Hopefully you all enjoy seeing this as much as I do, truly a blast from the past, some of it still works... Enjoy! http://web.archive.org/web/200101241...cainslair.com/Some people drink deeply from the fountain of knowledge. Others just gargle.

I think the few of us left posting are in a competition to see who makes the last post.

Great to hear from you!! We had so much fun around here and in my servers. I met many folks who are lifelong friends all over the world! Minerva and BlackArrow met here (she in Spain, he in NJ) they married and have a kid that calls me "Uncle John"!! I call him the "Cain's Lair kid".
I miss those days, I enjoyed building and researching newer hardware to keep our servers better than anyone else's. I spent tone of time keeping things going and loved every second of it.
I'm still looking for some game I can set up a server for, so we can play together again. Console gaming has almost killed off PC Gaming sadly, and the big companies now insist on running their own servers.
Thank you for the post, it made me smile, and the link made me smile. I still remember the weekend I sat down and made that web page myself. Take care my friend.
